Allavino FlexCount VSWR172-2BWRN 172 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator with Black Door

We've had this unit for two weeks, so far it's been pretty much as advertised. I've had a problem installing the door handle because the included screws were too short. I took them to a hardware store and they fit an 8-32 nut. Back home, the new, longer 8-32 screws didn't fit the door handle. My current theory is that they're metric screws. Aargh!

The unit seems about as quiet as it could be. It's in our dining room and doesn't interfere with dinner or conversation.

I think other reviews have mentioned that many of the racks fit only standard-sized bottles. There's only one rack in the cold section that is sized for fat bottles (even stacked fat bottles). Sparkling wine and many Chardonnays have fatter bottles that don't fit well on the other cold shelves. We drink more whites and sparkling wines than reds, so the fact that there's more room in the warmer section isn't optimum for us.

After much searching I decided on this model for two main reasons. First, the price was fair. Second, the flexibility of the shelves is better than most anything else out there. Any size bottle (except magnums) can be placed on any shelf in a number of different combinations. The shelves slide in and out easily.

I have had the unit now for a couple of months and it is working great. Set-up was straightforward and one question on handle assembly was quickly answered via the support line.

Pros:
- Fair price
- Sturdy and flexible shelves
- Looks great and easy to set-up

Cons:
- a little noisy when the compressor is running at full speed, however this doesn't happen often.

Would recommend this to anyone looking for a dual temp unit in this size!

This is a beautiful wine cooler. The drawers, door, and components seem to be a very good quality. My plan was to put this in a game room upstairs and it was quite a chore to get it up the stairs, but in the end, it took four guys to bring it up one flight of stairs. As for noise, it is sometimes quite quiet and other times noisier than I would like. I am thankful we did not intend to put in our kitchen as it is noisier than our standard refrigerator. But the one disappointment is that there is very little that "thermally" separates the two cooling zones. There is a solid shelf between the two zones where the digital temp displays are, but there is a gap (about 2") between that shelf and the window in the door. The result is that the maximum temp difference I can achieve between these two zones is only 6 degrees. I have the white wine at 48 degrees and the red wine at 54 degrees. My hope was to be able to store the whites at a low forties service temperature which would wind up being too cold for the reds. As is, the reds are a bit colder than they should be and the whites would be better at a colder temp. I was trying to get away from having to pre-cool the whites before serving but 48 is acceptable. Regardless, I have no regrets, as I think this solution cares for the wine far better than I could have before buying this cooler.

This is a high-quality wine fridge. Very happy with the product. If I needed another, would not hesitate to purchase the same product.

Things to know...

It's heavy. About 350lbs (159kg). It arrives on a pallet, surrounded by excellent packaging. The shipper will get it to your location, but it's not their job to get it unpackaged / off the pallet. You'll need a couple of heavy lifters to get it in place.

Similar to the last point, the fridge is not on rollers; it has feet. Having the feet, instead of rollers, is better once the unit is in place. Just something to keep in mind when getting the unit to where it will sit.

It makes some noise when cooling. Not an unreasonable amount of noise, or even bad noise. It's not silent, though, if that's the expectation.

Can't think of any other notable points. It's great product and I'm extremely pleased with mine.

So far, so good. We've had it for about a week now, and it seems to work well. We like that it's not that big--which is an even better space saver. While it might hold 172 bottles, it has to be the "standard" shape wine bottle. We have some expensive bottles that have bigger bottoms, skinnier necks, etc. Those fit but you can't fit that many per shelf, so unfortunately, the space is a bit wasted. With the reviews, I expected to hear a lawn mower. It hums, but it's not that loud--like the sound of a refrigerator--which is really what this is. We're crossing our fingers that this unit lasts a long time. There's no reason why it shouldn't but sometimes electronics let us down.

I only have had the Allavino wine cooler for a couple of weeks, but it appears to be working fine. It stays within a couple of degrees of the temperatures I have selected and it is very quiet. I can barely hear any compressor noise even when I am standing right in front of the unit. The build quality is much better than the previous name brand units I have purchased. The case is strong and does not bow out from the sides, the shelves do not sag and slide out smoothly. The order and delivery process went smoothly. We ordered the wine cooler on December 30th. and received it on January 8th. Contrary to other name brand units I have ordered, it was well packaged. My only disappointment was that we did not receive the white gloves treatment which we would have received if we had ordered the wine cooler directly from The Beverage Factory instead of through Amazon, but we knew that when we placed our order, but opted to go through Amazon, as the extended warranty we purchased through Amazon had better reviews that the warranty insurance provided through The Beverage Factory.

Only complaint I have is the freight company did not call before showing up, not a big deal. Unit holds both reds and whites where I want them (41 degrees on the whites and 52 degrees on the reds). Lock works well and the two handles that come with it are a real bonus if you want it to match your current appliances. The blue LED lights work great and give a neat look to this unit. I let mine sit for 24 hours before plugging it in and it had no issues. As an FYI, I also use a power strip to protect from power surges, just in case.

Very well designed to accommodate all sizes of bottles. Easy to view wines via the pull out shelves. Maintains a temperature within a two degree range. I have the upper zone set at 50 and lower at 55. I've had a temperature sensor in the lower zone for two months and the temperature has sat between 53 and 55 degrees. Very happy so far. Will report back the durability after more time.

It's a bit premature to review this wine fridge but so far - so good...It arrived on time and looks great. Still loading my wine. (I purchased 2 units) I like the flexibility of the shelving - better than most. Time will tell about durability - and whether the temperature holds true.

Product was delivered quickly but since I ordered through Amazon and there is no "white glove", it was a challenge getting it out of the wrapping. You will need an appliance dolly. Installing the handle was easy and it is nice you get two handle styles to choose from. It is pretty quiet which is great since it is in my dining room. Shelves were a little difficult to get lined up due to poor lighting - my fault. The ability to remove the shelves to give you more options for larger bottles is great. I will have some wine futures coming in November so having this gives me great piece of mind they will be safe and sound for the few years I will wait before cracking one of those open. LOL
