Just received the All-new waterproof (10th generation 2018) Kindle Paperwhite and this cover.
I used to use the leather cover for my old Kindle, and I sometimes found the cover becomes very sticky. This fabric cover feels just smooth and comfortable. Also, it's water resistant, which goes perfectly with the waterproof Kindle.
Another thing I like about is that the cover is has a magnet, and when you fold it to the back, the lid (metal inside) stays on the back of the Kindle, which is quite convenient. With the cover on, the Kindle still feels very light. Love it!!
I generally purchase Amazon's own covers whenever I buy a new Kindle, and I've always been satisfied with the quality and durability of their cover (well, the sole exception would be the cover they offered when the 2nd generation Oasis was introduced, and they ended up withdrawing that cover from sale, but that's the only one in my experience over 6 or so years and 6 new Kindles that was not fully satisfactory).
This time I decided to forgo the more expensive leather cover and try the fabric one, and I expect that it will be fine over time if perhaps less durable than leather. Hopefully I won't regret that since the leather cover is only $10 more, but I'm not that hard on my devices so I expect this will be just fine.
It fits perfectly and the cover works to wake up the Paperwhite when you open it, and put it back to sleep when it's closed. It's held shut when closed so it won't flop open if you don't want it to. The hinge of the cover is also firm enough to keep the front of the cover square when it's closed (some inexpensive covers are so flimsy that they flop around too much and don't always fit squarely).
The fabric is kind of a jeans texture which you should be able to see in the attached photos. It's a lighter blue than my Levis, looks good, and the inner surface of the front cover is a smoother than the outside - perhaps a microfiber material, which should be good in protecting the screen of the Paperwhite.
I'm completely happy with this cover and if I have anything further to add after using it for a longer period of time, I"ll return to this review and update it accordingly.
It turns on the Kindle when you open it, no button presses or anything. While I am a good Christian and this sort of magick might concern me, I simply put the Kindle in its case under my Bible every night which I think makes me safe.
Attractive, durable, lightweight cover. I wonder how easy it is to clean, but I do assume it shouldn't be a major issue.
I have had my new Kindle Paperwhite with the charcoal black water safe fabric cover for a few days now. The cover looks a lot better in person than the photos on Amazon. The weave is much tighter and doesn't snag on things in my bag as I feared it might from the view in the photos. One thing I noticed, is that when I have the kindle open and the cover folded back, it is magnetized to keep it closed. A nice feature when reading one handed, and also helps keep it closed when stored in my bag. A nice upgrade from my previous kindle cover. It is very light, soft without being slippery, and easy to hold. I splashed some water on it and it beaded off and wiped away without leaving a mark. I have only ever used the Amazon covers for my Kindle, and I definitely recommend this one for a clean, simple design that gets the job done.
When my older kindle finally bit the dust, I purchased the all-new Paperwhite and have been very pleased. One of the things I like most is this cover that I selected for it. It is a quality item - the case is well made and operates perfectly. What really has me sold is the materials used.
The outside of the case (I purchased the gray color) is heathered so doesn't show fingerprints and should be very tolerant of dirt. It feels good to the touch and allows a very secure grip on the device. Even though I don't care for obvious branding of products, the Amazon logo in the bottom right corner is discrete enough to not be bothersome. The inside of the front cover is a soft, suede fabric so when I am reading with the cover open, the device is comfortable to hold.
Bottom line: If I had it to do over, I would purchase this exact same case again - absolutely no question!

Description
This case fits my new kindle paperwhite perfectly. I bought the leather case first and thought it felt bulky when I folded the case back on itself. I returned that case and bought this one. I fits it like a glove, its thin and does not feel cheap. The one benefit I enjoy is that the case will stay open with magnetics when it's folded back on itself, plus it wakes up the device every time, like it should. (My old case did not always do this) The fabric texture to the outside feels like jeans and doesn't look like it will fray. The inside cover feels like a soft suede-like material. This is a very well made case. I have the charcoal black but I wish there were more than 3 color options. I like to change cases from time to time for a change of pace.
After much deliberation and comparison of Kindle Paperwhite 10th Gen cases (literally scoured through hundreds), I finally came back to choosing this slightly-more-spendy Amazon brand case. Let me tell you, I am 100% happy with this purchase--dare I say ecstatic!
First, LOVE this yellow color! Let's just get that out of the way! This case is lightweight, yet sturdy; functional yet fashionable; and it has some other cool perks, too.
For one, the woven texture (that wraps from fully from front to back) adds interest to this solid-colored case. It most certainly IS waterproof (although they suggest you dry it and not let it sit wet). One of my favorite features is that not only does it magnet shut and auto-sleep and wake, but when you flip the cover open and wrap it around the back to hold, it again magnets shut to the back so you don't have to hold it open, against itself, or have any awkward reading saying 'where are my hands supposed to go on this thing?". The magnet is strong and securely keeps it open or shut--whichever you prefer.
The inner left cover is some sort of soft microfiber--it almost feels velvety and protects the Kindle screen well. The majority of covers on the market have this same lining. The one thing I am concerned about with this cover (and all of these inner case covers) is that the soft inner fabric becomes stained, dirty, or scratched over time. But that's not the end of the world. Like a good book, it will wear over time. Be careful with your nails on the inner cover! It does catch some loose pet hair if you're around a lot of it.
When you open the cover fully to the back of the Kindle, you can see there is very little space between the covers. This makes the Kindle very easy to hold. I can hold it in multiple positions and experience no awkwardness, frustration, or fatigue. All in all I suspect this case with protect the Kindle very well, and if not, we all know Amazon has amazing customer service!
I wanted the perfect little 'home' for my Kindle, and I have surely found it! One of my most favorite purchases in awhile ❤️
First impressions, I must say the case feels very solid. The fabric cover is a very nice touch, though the case feels rather...small? I know the newest paperwhite 10th generation is indeed smaller than the previous paperwhite, but kind of surprising that the case doesn't add much bulk to the device itself. Though this might be a perk for many others. The added magnets to keep the cover attached to the back of the case when folded open is a good plus for sure!
So why only 4 out of 5 stars then? Well honestly, the case just doesn't feel too secure and safe. The top and bottom of the plastic shell for the device are cut out, though I did see that in the pics before purchasing. The corners are also not sharp at all (thank goodness). The previous generation cases feel just more secure than this one, but I would still recommend at least having a case for a Kindle any day.
This cover fits like a glove. It has a nice feel, it's lightweight, and when the case is open and folded to the back of the kindle the cover is held in place magnetically. (This is a HUGE bonus for me.) I like it so much I just ordered the other 2 colors. The only down side is that the cover doesn't fold to make a stand. Would loved to have another origami case like the ones released with the Voyage. Some of the third party cases are good, but they don't have the same premium feel.
Not a bad case, but I would have liked a little more from it. My main complaint is that the case is flush with the kindle. I would have liked a little overlap for drop protection.
One major thing I dislike is how slippery it is. I suspect this is partly due to the “waterproof” coating. It’s very slippery and I’ve nearly dropped it. Not a big fan of that.
Another thing I dislike I realy can not take off any stars for, but I noticed the weight that the case added to my kindle. I had gotten use to it being sans case for a few weeks while I waited for my case, and though it made me nervous of dropping it, I liked the weight of the kindle. After adding the case it feels like the weight doubled, and when I weighed it, sure enough it almost did. It isn’t a deal breaker, but it made my kindle noticeably heavier. Maybe it’s partly due to the magnetic closure?
