Love it! It came on time, packaged professionally, came with instructions in ENGLISH and they were simple and easy to understand and had pictures!
One problem I have had with previous winders is that it never fits on my 2inch thick crafting table and I'm happy to say this one DOES! It rotates smoothly and another great part is that the arm that you thread your yarn through stays still and the actual winder rotates which means there is no annoying knocking sounds or thread coming out of place like other winders.
I was able to wind an entire cake of size 3 (dk) yarn on it with no problem(5oz) and another great thing was that the cake wound up perfectly and when I took it off of the winder, it did NOT fall apart or collapse in on itself! I really love this yarn winder and am excited to finally be able to organize my yarn stash! Its definatly a must have for any yarn crafter, crocheter, knitter, etc.!!
I saw that this brand cost more than the others, but in the picture looked much more durable. The others looked pretty flimsy. When I got it today, it still seemed like the sturdy thing the picture shows. I put it together and clamped it to my table and quickly made 3 cakes from skeins that I have that are 4 oz and less in just a few minutes. It wouldn't handle anything bigger, but none of them do as far as I can see. The little pack of goodies they send it with it are good things that I wanted for my knitting anyway and would have cost me to buy the separately. The yarn holder arm is good and stable, doesn't flop around like people said of the other brands. The only thing that gave me some worry was that you have to snap the spindle on it when you get it and I had to use enough force that I was afraid of breaking it. I got the spindle on and nothing broke, so all is well. I have bad wrists and I find this tool to be definitely worth it.
This came a week earlier than it should have - thanks to the sellers for being so quick! The little notions pouch came as a bonus gift, stuffed with useful knitting things such as stitch markers, measuring tape, end protectors.... some things which I didn't have before! Lastly, the winder itself. Assembly takes 0.2 seconds - you just have to pop the arm into place. Clamps onto my very thick living room table (could go even thicker from the looks of it), with some cushioning as to protect the surface you're using. Upon use, does not budge a millimeter. It's not the quietest thing in the world, but it's quiet enough. Along with a swift, this was super easy to use and I ended up winding 3 skeins on my first go, something which would have taken me about 2 hours to do before and now took 15 minutes, tops. Love it!
Ok, so the first ball of yarn did not turn out so good looking, and we tried to redo it, and that was my first mistake! However the second ball of yarn was much, much better! I forgot the first rule, go slow and hold tension on the yarn ! Well it is a learning curve, but it was pretty easy to assemble, and easy to use! All in all I am very glad I purchased this yarn winder. My mistakes were not because of the winder but because I was not really paying close enough attention to what I was doing ! Would recommend this winder!
I don’t have a lot of space. I have been purchasing yarn skeins from Darn Good Yarn. I LOVE their yarn!!! Unfortunately, I spent an equal amount of time untangling the the yarn as making my item from it. I received this item today and had a ball of yarn within minutes. Frustration level was at about zero. And my yarn looks more beautiful than ever. I was so excited that I felt I had to write a review before I started my scarf!

Why you need a ball winder?
Do you buy a lot of yarns in skeins or hanks, and enjoy working with your materials in neat order? A ball winder will transform the skeins or hanks in cakes and makes it easy to store and work with them instead of having them all around.
Our yarn winder is intended to save you the time of winding balls of yarn yourself. Depending on the amount of yarn, you can typically wind a 4 ounce of yarn in approximately a minute. It would take a LOT more time to do it by hand.
100 % Satisfaction Guarantee
Our ball winder is backed by our manufacturer 30-day money back guarantee, with a 1-year free replacement warranty for defects in materials or workmanship.

It's the first time I've used a yarn winder. I got it because I bought yarn that continually tangled and knotted throughout the entire skein (I won't buy that yarn again). When I needed the 2nd skein, I rewound it with the yarn winder. It's so nice to knit and not have to stop every few yards and work 20-30 minutes untangling knots. Never having used one before and vague directions, I didn't tape the tail to the top center of the post when I started. When I pulled it off, the tail went into the center & I couldn't find it, so I'm unwinding from the outside this time, which is okay; it's still better than frequent untangling. I'll be sure to tape the tail to the top the next time - a pointer my daughter gave me.
What kind of sorcery is this! This gadget really works. If I could give it 100 stars I would. For anyone that knits or crochet it is the perfect thing, I prefer to ball my skeins up when I get them, it is so time consuming and the balls always have a mind of their own and escape whatever I am using at the.moment for a container, now I have nice tight cakes that sit perfectly flat by my side and behave themselves. Love it!
So, after helping my mom clean out her crafting collection I brought home an entire tote full of yarn. She gave me a hand winder but that was just beyond a headache to try and use. But this lovely item is just fabulous. Incredibly easy to put together and use. The locking button on the bottom keeps the arm in place which is something I struggled with my original one. Not to mention the clamp's strength, it formed such a strong hold even after undoing the bit that holds the clamps together I nearly punched myself in the face trying to get it to let go. This is a go-to if you get a lot of yarn and prefer it to be in cake form instead of in the long sausage style.
I love this winder! It's so easy to use, and I like have "cakes" instead of skeins in order to eliminate knots and tangling during a project. It really is sturdy, and the handle winds very smoothly. I could easily wind a skein of 200-250 yards, but by careful winding towards the end of a larger skein, I could wind 300-350 yards. One tip I came up with: use a small piece of blue painter tape to secure the beginning yarn to the top of the winder. This becomes the center pull when the cake is wound. Having the tape on the end of the yarn makes finding the end easy! Highly recommend this product!
Easy to use and well designed. I wanted to wind yarn cakes so I don’t have to have two separate balls for 2-at-a-time magic loop knitting. I can work from both ends of the cake. Becareful when attaching the spindle so plastic won’t break. Learned not to wind too fast since this may stretch yarn too much. Let yarn relax. Yarn cakes makes storing and organizing nice and tidy. Now I can play!
