I really like this bag, even though it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I was actually looking for a bag like this, only both sides would hold yarn, being able to feed the working ends through the top just like this one has on the one side. But since this holds 6 skeins of yarn, it holds enough, for now.

The other half of the bag is a big storage pocket. Comes in handy for me, since I'm doing a lot of loom knitting. Only problem is that it won't hold the longest loom that I have.

most of the zippers were split when the bag arrived, so I had to zip/unzip them all a few times to get them to zip correctly. Everything works fine now. |

The bag does come with velcro straps to secure the ends of your yarn so it won't fall back down the holes. It's hard to see in the picture, and it doesn't mention this in the description (or did I miss it?). Anyway, I was concerned about this when ordering the bag, but all my yarn ends are securely strapped to the top of the bag. I've uploaded a picture to show this more clearly.

The bag can be used while it is sitting on the floor if you're hand knitting or crocheting. If you're loom knitting, I'd keep it on the table. I usually turn my bag on it's side (yarn side down) and pull the yarn that way. I was concerned that the pressure of having two large skeins would put too much tension on the yarn, but it doesn't - if pulling from the center. There is tension when you first get started, so I just pull an arm-length out to work with until the tension eases up.

I was between giving this 3 and 4 stars. I opted up, as it is very useful.

The Good:
I love this bag, and it is great for all of my projects. From making blankets, to scarfs, and other projects. It is very large, and can hold plenty of yarn, and multiple projects. It is easy to fill this bar and run the yarn through the holes when you first get it, and the storage side is large enough for baby blankets or other projects.

It is a nice quality. Not great, but not bad. Zippers work well for me, and while on the cheaper side, they match the quality of the bag. The clear plastic is thin, but not too thin, and I am not afraid of needles poking holes in it.

The Bad:
In my opinion, this bag was not fully thought out. There is zero structure to the bag. It will not hold its form, without something in it. Something could have been provided to help everything stand on its own. Some cut and molded cardboard, or something.

The second issue, is that all of the compartments are open at the bottom. I find that as the yarn gets smaller, it can slid under the bottom and into the storage side. Not something I want to happen when working on projects, and transporting it around. This was the one thing that bothered me the most. I would have wanted to know this, as it would be the one thing that could change my mind on getting it. I expected it to be solid deviders.

As a whole, I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it. I would have paid a little more in order to have the changes to make the cons to pros.

I have seen the other style, that is a barrel shape, and would not recommend it. This one is better in terms of use, and layout than that one. As it does not have any shape holding qualities to it either.

I actually ordered two different yarn bags to see which one would work best for me, plus I always have multiple projects going so this would make it easy to keep them organized and easy to grab if I was going to be crocheting on the go. This one was my favorite.
This is a really good sized bag. There are zippered pouches for your patterns or book, plus all your supplies like hook/needles and scissors. There are 3 zipper pouches on the top for you to put your yarn into. One of the pictures shows I have 3 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver in there at the moment (the one is the middle is the Jumbo sized). I could probably squeeze 2 or 3 more skeins into these pouches if I really needed to but it would be tight. Since I had already started my project and did not want to cut my yarn, I went ahead and put the skeins in through the zippered back where you store your project (see pic), so all the yarn is inside the bag. There are a couple reasons I will continue to do this instead of running the yarn through the grommets. First, the poorly placed velcro strips under the grommets. In my experience, velcro and yarn do not mix well. It pulls at it and can cause splitting and fuzzies (which I was reminded of when I accidentally set my project on top of the bag for a few minutes), and since you aren't able to fully cover the velcro, it's a design flaw in my mind. I will be attempting to cut at least the exposed velcro off. Second, If you run your yarn through the grommets, that means you're going to be running your yarn into a zipper in order to store your project in the bag. Not a major issue, but I can see it getting caught in the zipper, the yarn strings getting caught on something, or little hands having some fun pulling all the yarn out of the hole. Overall, it's a pretty decent bag that I would recommend.

Have had this for over a year now and take it with me everywhere. Still love it! Such a handy, sturdy but lightweight way to take your projects with you. I bought it for a crochet blanket that I started for myself, lots of color changes throughout.
Features:
1. Front half of the bag has 3 zippered compartments with clear plastic. Each compartment has room for two skeins of yarn. You feed the end of the yarn up through the holes in the top which have grommets for smooth feed without damage to the yarn.
2. Back half of the bag is a large zippered compartment to put your project or extra skeins of yarn in.
3. Both sides of the bag have clear plastic pockets. One is zippered, the other isn't which is great for knitting needles that are too long for any other spots.
4. Even the top of the bag has a clear plastic zippered pocket. I use it for my scissors and darning needles. No more digging around blindly and getting stuck by one of those little buggers LOL
5. Adjustable strap for carrying.

Can't recommend it enough for anyone who likes to take their needlework with them or even if you just want your project to stay organized.

I. Love. This. Bag.
This is absolutely everything I was looking for. It's larger than one of those cute little yarn drum totes, but the extra holes to run working yarn through are so very worth it. I currently have 4 skeins in the see-through zippered front that I am working with, and 7 skeins of assorted size in the back storage area, along with an unfinished bag, some finished gloves, and a spiral notebook. I have my scissors in the top zipper compartment, my hooks and needles in one of the size compartments, some finished gloves and a couple of printed patterns in the other size. And there is STILL room to spare. IT'S GREAT!
The quality might leave a bit to be desired, but as far as functionality? I am so glad I went with this and not something else.
So, it does not stand on its own if it is empty (but neither do most of those cute yarn organizer drums, for the record), but once you have a couple skeins in the front and a little something in the back, it stands just fine. You could very easily cut some cardboard or something else (I am thinking of cutting off the covers of a $1 three-ring binder) to size and use that as support.
The walls on the inside of the bag separating the yarn chambers and the front of the bag from the back are not attached at the top and bottom, so if you (like me) get the urge to switch what you are working on mid-project and need space for another skein in the front, you can slip the one you were working with over the wall without cutting your working yarn and having to add it back in later. You can then put a different skein there and get on with your new project.

If you are like me and NEED to be able to organize and separate your working yarn, and don't need it to be in a tiny area (this is a pretty decent size bag, mine is a bit puffed up right now and measuring about 16in x 10in x 12in), this may very well be the bag for you.

Thread yarn through lid grommets to prevent tangling and fraying. Roomy pockets store needles, gauges, pattern books, eyeglasses and more. Carrying strap and zip closure. Clear plastic, reinforced with polyester. 12" high x 15" wide x 9 1/2" deep.

I gave this as a gift to a new crocheter. She is making an afghan with 5 clors and was just getting so frustrated trying to keep the colors straight. Not only that, but her cats were makng a mess of her yarn basket. This tote is the perfect solution. I didnt realize it ehen I ordered it, but each yarn "cubby" actually has 2 grommeted holes to pull the yarn through so theres actually twice the storage there than I expected.

There are places for the pattern, the project, your phone .. Whatever you need or want to carry. Top this all off with a lovely carrying strap that you can use either over the shoulder or just by your side snd this is really one nice yarn tote. Ive hinted sround that I would really love one for myself-- hope my husband was listening!

Having said that, the one "con" here is that the clear plastic is not the thickest stuff around. Im not sure yet whether this will last forever, but - hey- it was a fabulous price. I wasnt expecting it to be leather! All in all, I would recommend this to anyone for their yarn projects. Its a cleverly designed yarn tote.

I do a lot of plastic canvas (for those of you who dont know what that is, its a mix of cross stitch {sometimes referred to as cross stitch but different things} and crochet. with a lot of different colors for different designs. Well, I tried to find more pictures of this bag to see what it looked like on the other sides. well, you have an open topped pocket on one side, a pocket with a velcro strap to close it on the other. then you have the side thats pictured with the skeins of yarn. yes there are 6 holes on top for the yarn to come through but on that side you only have 3 pockets to put 2 skeins in each pocket. with that being said, you have to put one in front of the other. and it makes it a little hard to see what color you have in there. if you're like me you need a big swatch of color to tell you what it is. and there is also a double sided velcro thing on the top to keep your yarn in place when you're not using it to keep it from unrolling everywhere or slipping back in to the pocket. Then on the back side, its a solid black piece of fabric with a zipper at the top to use for your storage needs. I use it for my smaller balls of yarn and bigger pieces of canvas. and on the top you have a pretty decent sized zipper pocket that i use for my needle storage and shorter pieces of yarn. all in all i love this bag!!! adjustable strap to put where you want/need it. its a great storage piece for my needs. perfect for my yarn needs and my "endless projects" as my husband says. Definitely would recommend this to everyone. my only sore spot would be that the skein pockets need to be wider.

I've show this off for the past few weeks. I get to circulate with a large group of fibre/yarn enthusiasts. Everyone LOVES my tote bag!! They want one too! They cannot believe what I paid for it, and how easy it is to find on Amazon! Room for TONS of yarn, patterns, tools, needles/hooks/lucet forks, etc with side pockets perfect for glasses and pom pom jigs. The top zipper pocket is perfect for snips or scissors. See through plastic makes finding what you are looking for oh so easy. Yes it does have a chemical plastic smell when you first get it.....just open up all the compartments and toss in a disc air freshener and put in a well ventilated area for a day or two. Presto, problem solved!

It's so awesome, I'm going to buy another one for myself for my lap weaving looms and one for a mother's day present for my Eema. Yes they are THAT GOOD!!

I just got my bag yesterday. I love this bag. I am very happy with it and the price. It does stand up and folds down. Yes it did have some loose strings that I snipped off but nothing to be alarmed about because the stitching is still very tight. I believe it will last a long time if it is not abused with over filling. The weak spot in the bag is the plastic compartments where you put the yarn in. Two of the panels are being held by one stitch each on the bottom inside the bag not on the outside but it is still sturdy due to the plastic that is holding that. If you use Red Heart Super Saver you will not fit six skeins of yarn but only three one in each compartment or 4 skeins two skeins in the middle compartment since that is the bigger compartment. I can fit all six skeins into it but I'm not going to over fill this bag. Even if I'm using six colors I can only crochet with one color at a time. I can put the others in the back with my project. When it does wear out because all things do wear out. I will buy this bag again because I love this bag and the price is right for it too.

I was very wary about this item based on other reviews, but so far it's going strong. You can fit quite a bit of yarn in it, and the pouch to put your work in is very handy. The straps aren't adjustable, which is my main issue with it. If I don't stuff it full of stuff, it collapses in on itself which makes it a little difficult to work with as well, so I just put a lot of yarn in it. Overall a very handy carrying case, we'll have to wait and see how long it lasts though.
