The phone holder works well. There are a couple of tricks. First, the air vent adapter should be installed on a stronger fin (read: thicker ones). Make sure to push all the way in to reduce wobble. Second, in addition to going up and down, the adjustable "foot" can also go left and right, therefore avoid covering the speaker. It is best to make that adjustment BEFORE you mount the charger onto the air vent adapter. Thirdly, if it is not obvious in the previous two points, let me make this point clear: install the air vent piece first, without the phone holder. It is much easier that way.
Then you adjust the phone holder to fit your phone, again separately. And then you can put them together. Last tip, you don't necessarily need to use the provided cigarette charger and cable. It is a standard micro-USB. Just make sure you have enough current (1A necessary, 2A or more for fast charge).
My unit developed an issue with the cigarette charger. The built-in cable stop providing sufficient current for wireless charging. But I can still run a cable from the additional output at the cigarette charger to make everything work. Obviously this is not ideal. So I contacted customer service from their website and explained my findings. I was treated with great respect. They promised sending me a replacement PART. But when I received it, it was a complete WHOLE SET!! That's great service. Thanks!!
I have been very happy with previous iOttie products, this one not so much. Shipped in a padded envelope resulting in squashed packaging; it looks like the mount itself survived, the box did not. The plug for the charger sticks directly out the back, making mounting with the really close vent mount unworkable; I will have to find a 90 degree plug adapter to be able to use it. "Fast" charging is no faster than my previous mount, bounces around between 300 and 500 mA. Position of the charging coil is such that to charge my phone it has to be clipped very low on the mount, partially obscuring the fingerprint sensor on the back, and covering the volume button with the clamp.
EDIT: I just realized a major improvement to the vent mount clamp. Previous versions used a spring to clamp to the vent fin. This new version has a positive locking ring to squeeze the clamp onto the vent. It is much more secure, plus there is a notch in the clamp so it can straddle a bar in the vent if necessary.
I love this! Fairly easy to install. So nice to be able to set my phone on a charger with one hand in my car. Just make sure the center of your phone is centered with the charger. Also, best to make sure your phone case is wireless charging compatible! This seems to charge slightly slower than plugging my phone into a fast charging cable, but not by much. I have a galaxy s9. I have no complaints, I highly recommend this!
I knew when I purchased this it would only "slow charge" the Google Pixel 3. That worked better than I expected. Even using Google Maps, or Waze, and streaming Bluetooth audio, it would still increase the charge level on the phone at about 10-15%-points per hour. However, the clamps that hold the phone also press down on the volume button. If you adjust the position of the phone so the clamps don't do that (which means it is no longer resting on the bottom "clamp"), it no longer charges the phone. For that reason, I would say this isn't compatible with the Pixel 3.
Other than that, it seems to work really well. The plastic feels cheap, but it held the phone very steady, and the release buttons had just the right amount of resistance. I also liked that it held the phone away from the vents so I didn't have to worry about the phone getting hot from heat, or condensation from A/C.
Update: after writing this review, we were immediately contacted by the company to discuss the issue with our purchase, and immediately sent us a new, at no extra charge to us. I'm giving them four stars, since it was still disappointing to open the product on Christmas day, only to find you can't use it; however, we added two stars as their customer service was exceptional! I would purchase from them again.
I bought this for my husband for Christmas (the only thing he asked for), so I was very disappointed when we opened the product box that day to find that the cradle knob on the back of the cradle was missing - which is needed to mount it to the vent mount. We can't mount this without it. So disappointed!

So far so good on the first test day! Still did a fast charge on my S9+ while listening to online music and navigating at the same time. I bought another wireless fast charger a week before this one. But that other brand wasn't really charging that fast and almost not charging at all when listening to online music and navigating at the same time. So far now it's 2 thumbs up or 5 stars for this charger. Hope it stays this way and lasts a long time. It holds my s9+ really well even with case.
I absolutely love this device. I've been through a bunch of different devices in an attempt to find an easy way to hold my phone so I can see an onscreen map while driving and while the phone is being charged. This device does it perfectly. Positioning is easy, dropping the phone in the cradle is easy, and the wireless charging feature is a no brainer. Fantastic!
I've tried other Qi Wireless Charges and this one is the best. No hassle with magnets or other sticky compounds. I push my mobile phone onto the cradle and a button in the back activates the side arms to secure my phone. To remove, I push 2 pins on the side and the arms release the phone. Super easy... best part, the Qi Charging fully charges my phone while I use Pandora, Waze, or any other application on my phone.
Works great, looks great, charges well with my iPhone XS with a symmetry case. This mount needs the bottom “feet” curved upwards to keep the phone from slipping up and away from the charging base.
I may try using feet from another iottie mount to accomplish this
This product is awesome. Great Qi charger option when a magnetic setup isn't strong enough for a big phone (Note 8) in a case. IOttie costomer service is amazing
