FOBO Tire Plus (Black)

FOBO Tire Plus (Black)

I original had a issue with Amazon shipping me the wrong color Fobo Tire Plus, problem came from the warehouse. Since then, I ordered straight from Fobo Tire website with an additional purchase of the Fobo Xtra Sensor for the spare tire. I never really measure the pressure in my tires for many years. Whenever I get my tire rotate at Costco, they add air to the tires. I wanted a TPMS, but most were out of my price range and many didn't have that instant option of letting you know when the pressure is low, until it's too late.

Fobo Tire Plus in the other hand uses Bluetooth from your phone. With the Fobo App, you can see instant pressure from all of your tires. You can also set the MIN, RECOMMENDED & MAX tire pressure. I am surprise that the pressure on my spare tire in the trunk of my 2000 Honda Accord increases pretty rapidly. I guess heat builds up in the trunk faster. So far, I like being able to monitor all of my tires & spare tire with just a click on the Fobo App. If your tire pressure is below or above your MIN & MAX settings, it will give you an alert right away.

For my 2000 Honda Accord, these are the factory recommend tire pressure settings.
Front & Rear = 30 PSI
Spare = 60 PSI

Here are the not so nice things about this. Bluetooth technology only allows the MAX Distance of 30 feet, so you can only monitor it while within that distance. After using it for 2 weeks, I did notice a Battery Low notice on the Front Right Tire Sensor, but it went away. I'm not sure what cause it, but I hope it doesn't come back. If it does I will just replace the battery, but the battery should last 2 yrs.

See images attached.

Watch the video before installing on YouTube. Super easy 5 min to install. Very happy with purchase.

Husband loved this and is ordering some for the airplane and his his other to cars.

This is a fantastic product!

I have been using one set of these for a few years now, and have been very happy with the product and how well it works. In fact I've been so happy with it that I recently acquired a second set, for a second vehicle.

The sensors are easy to install, and the app works very well. I was able to add the second set of FOBO Tire Plus sensors and the second vehicle to my profile very easily. Pairing the sensors with the tires they will be monitoring is as simple as just following the prompts in the app and screwing the sensors onto the valve stems. Once installed, you can see the tire pressure and the temperature of the air in the tire for all the vehicle's tires. You can also set alert levels, to alert you if the tire pressure is above or below whatever pressure you like. You can even set different desired pressures for the front tires and the back tires.

I do have a tip for the initial installation. Sometimes a cell phone's data connection or radio may interfere a bit with the initial bluetooth pairing process. So when I initially pair the sensors to the car and the app, (which in general you will only need to do once) I find it helpful to put my phone in airplane mode and then turn bluetooth back on. I had forgotten to do this initially when installing the new set of sensors, and the second sensor I attempted to install was not immediately recognized. That reminded me of the conflict with the phone, and once I put the phone in airplane mode and re-enabled bluetooth, the sensors were recognized immediately.

If your tire pressure is above or below the threshold you set, but you have not checked the app, the in-car unit will alert when you start a drive. You can then check the app to immediately see the status of the pressure in all four tires. The tire or tires that are not within the pressure range that you specified will be highlighted in red.

The FOBO systems have one advantage over many of the tire pressure monitoring systems now being included with newer cars in that you can see exactly the status of each tire. My understanding is that many of the built in systems only tell you that there is an issue, without specifying which tire needs your attention.

Another benefit is that the FOBO systems show the tire pressure in .2 pound increments, (when using PSI.) So if you get an alert, and see that one tire is .2 or .4 pounds below the threshold you set you can decide whether or not that is something that needs to be dealt with immediately or not.

The app also shows the battery level of each sensor, so that you can change the batteries in the sensors as needed. They take the very basic CR2032 button battery, and it is easy to swap the batteries. My batteries seem to last six to nine months now, give or take, though I think the batteries that came with the first unit may have run down faster than that. I make sure to buy name-brand batteries, as the extra expense is worth not having to change them as often.

It's easy to forget to adjust the pressure in your tires as the weather changes. My first FOBO Tire Plus has been helping me remember to do this for a few years now, and I know the second one will do the job equally well on the other vehicle.

I hope you found this review helpful. On the other hand, if you did not find this review helpful, I’d be interested in hearing why, so that I may attempt to edit it and make it more helpful to both you and others. If you leave a comment on the review, suggesting how it would be more helpful, I promise to respond to your comment, and to attempt to incorporate your suggestion in my review, if it is at all possible for me to do so. My goal is to write reviews that help people, as I have been helped by the reviews others have written. Thanks!

Absolutely love these. Saved me from destroying a brand new $275 tire when the valve stem leaked.
I wish the caps were smaller or even better, I'd love to see an actual in-wheel version similar to OEM TPMS.
