So let me say three things that you should know before you buy this.

1. It hurts. This isn't for someone who freaks out at a slight sting. IT HURTS.

2. It takes time. Its not instantaneous!

3. It works. (Comparison pictures included!)

So I'm not a impulse buyer. I stared at this thing for like 6 months going back and forth on whether to give it a chance. Finally I broke down.

I ONLY have been using this laser on my underarms and bikini (soon to be Brazilian yeah I know it says not to do it but its working so woo!) So this is not a review for legs. I constantly have ingrown hairs and am uncomfortable in these two regions thanks to my hair but cant really afford professional laser. Waxing is expensive because my hair grows back within a week or less, and shaving every night works, but makes it look ugly and I can already see hair again in 12 hours or less. I'm going to the Bahamas soon and I wanna look damn good in my bikinis.

So I bought the Tria, followed instructions, started zapping the same night I got it. I am a believer of actual results so I only did it on ONE armpit, and one side of my bikini line. I wanted to see actual differences because I was not about to waste 400 bucks on some laser that didn't do crap in a months time. Thankfully it has passed its trial! *party time*

So to use it I apply Numb Master Cream 30 minutes before and then get a bag of ice to use while zapping. Battery life is wonderful for me doesn't run out ever. I use it on the 5 setting. I want those hairs GONE. IT HURTS LADIES. This is not for the weak willed. I feel like I'm getting a pinch from tweezers every time it zaps or worse. The numbing cream and ice helps. If it doesn't hurt that means you haven't hit a hair and you just wasted a zap!

I've used it probably.. 4 or 5 times now in the three week period I've had it. I didn't really notice a change until one night I went to go shave my underarms and... there was almost no hair on one. I stared at it like an idiot for 2 minutes wondering if I'd already shaved it but it was the same throughout the next two days. No not all the hair is gone but most of it is and what is there is fine and takes a while to grow.

So overall recommendation is yes if you have dark hair on light skin USE THIS. Use it correctly, it will hurt but its way better than waxing for the rest of your life!! I've included 3 pictures from my 3 weeks of use. As you can see one is my left underarm and another is my right. Both have not been shaved in 24 hours and you can already see differences! And the third one is the top of my bikini line. You can see a clear distinction from my left and right sides of how my hair is left, that is also a 24 hour period from being shaved.

I'll add more to this review as I remember what to write/tips, and post update pictures if I can get all the hair to be gone forever! With the results I've had so far I'm pretty confident in it!

This is the real thing and has the power to really do what it promises. I have slightly tanned skin, lots of freckles (like millions), and dark hairs

I've been using it on my whole body (no face though) and have been using my armpits as a test and control. I've been zapping my left armpit and only shaving the right armpit. I have huge hairy pits. After 4 sessions about 2 weeks apart, my left armpit has gone from a very dense 4x6 inch area down to an area a little bigger than a 25c quarter with zero hair outside the quarter, and about 30% of the regular density inside the quarter. My other arm pit has not changed at all and grows 2-3 times as fast.

Beware of accidently zapping a dark mole or dark tatoo. Forgetting that will wake the dead when you accidently zap one. You will quickly realize how much power is really in the Tria.

The only big cons are limited battery capacity and small target area. I get about 680-700 zaps in 40 minutes at max strength per charge and it takes about 2 hours to charge. The laser output window is smaller than a 10c US dime. That makes doing large areas like legs very tedious and you can loose track of the exact areas you've already gone over.

TIP: as someone before pointed out, the instructions say to shave really close before using the Tria. I've found that if I leave a tiny bit of hair, like 1-2 mm, then it REALLY does a great job. It stings a little bit more, but I've found that it has been permanently killing about 20% of the hair follicles in one or two sessions with zero skin damage.

TIP2: Wiping your skin with Witch Hazel can instantly eliminate the redness or angry follicles, and if you are like me it will also stop 90% of my razor bumps from having to shave before using the Tria.

I've had dark facial hair since I was young- in fifth grade a classmate told me I had a man's mustache which I promptly went home and shaved. And so it began...
By the time I hit forty, dealing with hair removal was a daily or twice daily routine and I never let anyone- including my husband- touch my chin. Over the years I had tried electrolysis, and gotten a few Groupons for laser but couldn't justify the expense to keep going back for months. Words cannot describe how self conscious I was about it :( I had tweezers everywhere. I got tested to see if I had a hormone imbalance or anything else that might be causing all the hair growth. Nope- just genetic. The doctor offered $100/month prescription cream to keep it from growing, but cautioned that if I stopped using it everything would come right back. I don't like weird chemicals so I turned it down.
Last spring I was working out, and in the natural daylight coming in the windows I noticed that it looked like I had dark smudges on the side of my face. The growth on my face had gotten so dense and coarse that I had a permanent five o'clock shadow. I was horrified. After researching the best at home lasers I was down to the Tria and the one that is for lighter hair. The hair on my head is light brown, or dark blond, but the hair on my body is mostly dark with a few blondes and reds mixed in. I wasn't sure if it was too light for the Tria.
I ended up going for this one and it has totally worked for me! The dark smudges are gone and I don't even think about my facial hair anymore. My husband touches my chin now and it's fine with me! I've started using it on my underarms and other places as well, and have seen great results in each place.
As other reviewers have mentioned- it hurts. Especially where the hair is coarse. But I have seen the best results on a level five, so I bring my ice pack and tough it out. Hey, it hurts when you have it done professionally, too! And electrolysis was way more painful for me.
If your story is anything like mine- go for it. It's an expenditure for sure, but it could change your life, too!

I purchased the tria mostly to use on the bikini area and chin. I have very course, fast growing hair - have to shave my legs every day. The Tria really worked for me. I did have to continue the treatments for a longer duration than the instructions say, but I could tell that it was working as the hair grew back slower and thinner each time. So if you have thicker hair, you may have to continue the treatments a little longer. It gets less painful as the hair starts to grow back thinner. So after a little bit of patience I no longer have to shave or wax my bikini area or chin! It has been almost a year and none of the hair has grown back. I highly recommend this product!

I've had this for just over a week and I almost can't believe that it's actually working already. Seriously.
A little backstory: I had laser hair removal about 8 years ago on my underarms and lower legs. It was expensive and took a few months but was definitely worth it... for about a year. All my hair slowly started to grow back. Depending on the person, hormones, other factors, there may not be any real permanent hair removal solution for some of us at this time.
So my hair grew back and I've been shaving ever since but, I started to become very sensitive to that a few years ago. Razor burn and itching were driving me crazy, waxing just led to massive ingrown hairs, it's been really awful. I looked into getting professional laser treatments again but they're still really expensive. About $1000 for just underarms. I checked out the Tria and figured, at half the price, it was worth a shot.
Some caveats: I think part of the reason it's turned my underarm hair into fuzz in just one week might be because I've had laser treatments before. That's really the only explanation I can think of. I'm literally so happy right now just because my arm pits aren't irritating me... It's the little things, ya know.
I cranked it up to the highest level, 5, the first time and, yes, it hurts a bit. This kind of pain doesn't bother me. Long unending pain makes me cry like a baby but short bursts of pain don't bother me at all. If you have the opposite experience with pain, you may not like this. Or I would at least recommend using it on the very low settings. Oh, it also heats up very fast on the high setting and drains the battery very quickly. If you're trying to do you're entire legs, you're probably going to have to do them in sections.
That's another thing. I just started on my lower legs and it takes a lot of patience. It's hard to tell which area you've gone over already and it takes hundreds of pulses. It's a commitment.

All that said, this gadget does remove hair and at a fraction of the cost of professional treatments. There's also the added benefit of being able to remove random body hairs yourself whenever you like. You will also be able to use it again in 6 months or a year if you hair does start to grow back. However, make sure you have the right skin tone and hair color or it's just not going to work. That's all from me. If you really can't stand the hair and you've got the means to buy this, do it. It's pretty awesome.

Suffer from POS and can say this has saved my facial hair problems. Yes it can be scary at first but the results are worth it. Does work!!!

This is a life changer!!!!!! I didn't think this would work so well but I see a dramatic difference and I've only had this for a little over a month. I started using on level 1 every week even tho they recommend every 2 weeks but I desperately wanted to see a change. After a month on level 1 I saw a slight difference in how long it took the hair to grow back. Instead of having stubble in a few hours it could stay rather smooth until the end of the day. Now I jumped up to level 3 and it gives a much faster better result. Now my skin feels super smooth for the whole day and night, and into the next morning and the hair seems finer and less of it. As I said I've only had this for a month and they say after 3 months of use you can expect no hair regrowth. All u have to do is keep at it, and don't miss a treatment. This product has changed my life and I wish I found it years ago. It's worth every penny. If you have tried it all like I did, waxing, tweezing, threading this is it the one thing that will actually work. Even if it didn't give me permanent hair loss at this point I am still very happy with the results I have achieved so far. I love waking up to smooth skin!! A must buy, don't wait anymore change your life!!!!

UPDATE: So I have had this tria for 8 months and to be honest I haven't used it in about 3 months or so because my results are so amazing! I can wake up in the morning and answer a knock on the door with no makeup on and no worries for the first time in my life. I still have a few hairs that are thinner and finer but the huge majority is goneeee (and so far it really seems permantly gone.) I really do believe if i start treatments again I can have completely smooth hair free skin, the only thing stopping me is the pain lol. I still stand by this product every day!!!

I’ve only had it a week but it feels painful enough that I think it’s sufficiently strong to cause good hair-growth reduction. Definitely it isn’t as powerful as the professional lasers: not as painful and hair doesn’t singe at all. I feel safer this way—20 or 22 joules vs 32-34. I use only the highest setting.

Some people have worsening of acne with laser hair removal and others have temporary improvement. I think it improves my mild, persistent acne, and it probably works on a principle similar to Zeno. (I’ve never used a Zeno but basically it’s just heat directed into the acne lesion.) This laser does deliver heat into the skin, and I think some small, closed lesions are shrinking and drying up. Not sure about the blackheads but they appear to be improving.

I think that, in cases of worsening acne, it is probably a temporary ‘purging’ effect, as you’d have with tretinoin cream. I have been purging and exfoliating so long that I have very little of that result. (After a lifetime of acne treatments, it’s still there, just not as bad as when I was younger. I’m 63.)

I will update on both hair removal and acne after a few more weeks.

(Tria sells an acne blue light but I don’t see it on Amazon, and I’m skeptical that it would even work.)

Update: After 2 weeks, still too early but follicles seem to be weakened—fingers crossed.

It definitely caused a flareup of my HSVII (genital herpes). HSVII can appear a few inches away from genitalia; this was what happened and it was quite painful, but the numbing products can be used for relief.

I think it could cause an outbreak of other herpes viruses—cold sores or shingles—so if you need the shingles vaccine, be sure to get that. Shingles can show up around the neck and face and it’s excruciating—also dangerous for the eyes. The new Shingrix is given in 2 doses. It’s supposed to be more effective than the Zostavax, but it causes more of a flu-like reaction for some people, so be prepared that you might feel crummy for a few days; that’s what happened to a few people I know, but they still are glad they got the Shingrix and followed through with the second shot, as required.

I don’t say this to be discouraging about the Tria laser. I feel these viruses are a fact of life—one type or another—and I still want the hair removal.

I had professional laser hair removal in the past and it was permanent. I’m hoping to get rid of the last stranglers with this home device.

I think the Tria helps my acne a little bit but I’m being careful because I’m a little afraid of burning, since it isn’t meant for acne treatment; so I just use sparingly on my nose and chin, and I plan to get some professional treatments for acne, probably fractional laser—afraid to try the full CO2 laser, because it takes off so much epidermis in one treatment and requires intense healing.

This is not for the weak by any means. I am latina, olive skin and dark hair. Settings 1-3 are not bad but if you really want to see results you have to do it consistently and move up a level each time until you reach five. I started at 1-2 for my bikini area, upper lip and chin. I have done it weekly and have worked my way up to a 4 in a month. And already I see HUGE results. Not only do I NOT have to shave my bikini area as often but the razor bumps are going away and the scarring is subsiding. I am using cortisone after to prevent irritation. As for my upper lip and chin. WOOOOAH! HUGE difference!!! Within the first week I noticed a difference; those stubborn hairs that I have to tweeze (and were causing that part of my skin to look irritated) were MUCH easier to get out. By the third week I do NOT maintenance in between. And I have noticed a smoothness of my skin and again the ingrown/stubborn hairs are non existent and the scarring is going away. I do not use any numbing cream or ice because I have built a tolerance. I did purchase mine used (although practically brand new) it was WELL worth what I paid for. In the past I have done waxing, electrolysis, and laser hair removal at an expensive salon. This has been by FAR the best experience, I go at my pace, on my time and it WORKS!!

One thing I did notice is you need to be sure the laser is hitting an actually hair follicle. I know that sounds crazy considering you are trying to get an area that has hair; but be mindful of where you are actually pointing the laser. Hair grows in different directions if you pressing the laser in an area where the hair grows to the right, you may want to adjust the angle you are pointing the laser. Hope this helps. Once I am satisfied with the areas I am working on I plan to move to other areas of my body.

Man does this thing work! I have pale skin and dark hair and this thing really works well. I also have the Remington iLight Pro face and body IPL (which isn't a laser) and I use that for larger areas like my legs and I've tried it on my face, armpits, and genital area and it seems to do a good job on those places except my face, and on reddish hairs. I decided to finally purchase the Tria because it boasts 4x the power than it had before-- and MAN DOES IT HURT! BUT BEAUTY IS PAIN I GUESS 😂. I finally see results on my face-- I have a few thick hairs on my chin that may have been too deep in my skin for the IPL to reach but the Tria laser got those. The Tria laser has a smaller treatment window so I can also get a more acurrate treatment on my stache area where the skin is pressed flat against the laser and dare I sayI also did right between my eyebrows and it did kill off some of the follicles on that area also! The IPL treatment window is too big to even attempt there without risking blinding myself. The Tria's smaller treatment area can be a con for some because it's too small for large areas like legs--but for me that's why I got both the Tria laser and the Remington IPL. I can save the precious Tria 'zaps' for smaller places like my face and armpits and the crevices of my nether regions. The Tria hurts WAY more than the Remington IPL-- I've never bothered with numbing creams but if you have thick hair in sensitive areas (like armpits or genital area) be prepared for a world of suffering! Also, the results are slow. For both IPL and Laser, you should get a really close shave --the closest you can get! After one treatment you should wait two weeks until you do another treatment. Usually around the two week mark I notice the hair can be plucked or pulled out without any give or effort-- that's how you know it affected the follicle. I will even notice in areas where hair grows fast like in my armpits that the hairs that were affected don't seem to grow as fast as ones that weren't zapped. I used to be skeptical of thr Tria laser back when it was first gaining hype and I didn't trust something that ran on battery-- I couldn't imagine it was powerful ebough or lasted long enough on a charge to get any results. After waiting years and reading different reviews of different brands and types of home hair removal systems I finally got a Tria laser and I'm glad I finally did!
