I unknowingly washed a load of white laundry with a business card that had a red insert in the middle was hiding in one of my pants. Imagine my horror when I opened up our washer to find every single clothing completely baby pink including my favorite pair of white jeans. I tried everything from bleach to homemade remedies in an effort to get the pink out and while it worked for some items, it didn't work for my favorite pants.
In a moment of desperation, I read about Rit and decided to get it. Now the instructions make it seem like you need a hazmat suit to operate the chemicals, I opted for a facemask, gloves and my bathtub. I loaded the chemicals in and dumped my pants in the water, carefully following the instructions and stirring it periodically every 5-7 minutes with a pair of chopsticks feeling like I was Walter White working his latest concoction. To my surprise, all the pink came off my pants! Not only did it all come off, my pants looked even whiter than before. I made sure to rinse and wash those pants a few times because who KNOWS what kind of crazy chemicals are in this package but whatever it is, it worked! I thought the harsh chemicals would damage the material on the pants too but aside from it being a little stiffer, they didn't feel that much different and I didn't get any type of adverse skin reaction to wearing the pants so you can say I'm pretty happy with the outcome!
My cleaning lady somehow managed to put a maroon table cloth in the washer with a load full of white sheets / towels / etc. :::SIGH:::
I ordered this to attempt to reverse the damage that had been done. It worked better on some items than others. Some items are now white-ish (versus pink) while some of the other ones are a lighter pink. I used all three boxes for the load. The instructions are inside the box, but they are so old that they did not include how to use with a front loading washer, so make sure you get online to read those directions if you have a front loader.
Fair warning: when mixing this stuff, do it outside or near an open window. It smells AWFUL, like an old school perm. Probably very toxic too.
This would be more effective if the dyed clothes were not placed in the dryer, however, my cleaning lady dried everything that was pink :::BIG SIGH:::
I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t tried it myself. My husband washed a load of light colors with a brand new red shirt...DISASTER! Everything ended up turning a nice shade of
pink. He was ready to dump all of his new pink clothes when we decided to try the Rit dye. With just one box, his pink clothes were back to white. Just amazing!
It removed the color of my cardigan in the washer, but did it in a slightly uneven result. The cardigan was alone in the washer so I'm not sure why that happened. In any case, I recommend this product, but be aware that if the color is intense, such as with my cardigan, you will need to do a second color removing session to be able to redye it well.
This worked like a charm to get blue dye out of white garments! I bought three boxes: tried the first using the washer method, but that didn't work. Then, I used the stove stop method. I did one item at a time, and it made everything but one polyester item totally white again. Even with the polyester item, it lightened up the blue.

There is nothing on the market as good as this product.
I accidentally washed a brand new white shirt with a red one and had a tie dye shirt in the end. One quick "bath" of Rit and it was good as new. You need to keep these on hand.
I dyed a bedspread in the washing machine, and I really thought I'd cleaned it after, but it was my Moms jeans that turned pink 3 washs later(???) Anyway fortunately your color remover brought them back to white. Now I'm keeping a box on hand!
The only thing it didn't work for an old tablecloth that had turned yellow couldn't get it back to white maybe I didn't use enough packages
instructions say it won't damage the material like bleach – it certainly reduces the blue color - may do it again - I want a very faded look
Yikes! It works too good. Buy extra and error on the safe side. I should have used 1 box instead of 2 for my two twin linen duvets. It removed the color transfer (red) in less than 2 seconds.
