I love Red Heart yarn and use it for all of my projects. I am a very experienced crocheter. I have been at it for over 50 years and have made dozens of afghans and baby blankets, all with Red Heart yarn.
I bought 6 skeins of this yarn. Because I was trying to make a blanket for a young child, I decided to make two blankets. What you see in the photos is the product of 3 skeins. 6 skeins would cover a double bed very nicely, using the pattern I went with (meaning just that simple back and forth).
I bought this yarn because I thought it was pretty. I was not disappointed. I'm going to buy more in other colors to make more kid blankets.
The price I paid on Amazon compares VERY favorably to the same item at Herrschners.
One reviewer complained that the end product was not soft. Try a larger hook.
Another complained about knots in the yarn. It happens. Just keep an eye out.
Another complained about a discoloration. This is extremely rare, but it happens. Just keep an eye on your project as you work.
I really like this Red Heart ombre yarn for the way it smoothly changes colors and easily comes out of the skein from the center with no knots. My only problem with it is the color which looks like medium blue on the page, but is actually white to icy blue and then pale blue ombre. I was hoping for a darker blue that was more of a sky blue color. I am keeping it because I can use it in my charity projects, but I won't use it for me.
I really like to use Red Heart yarns and I gave this purchase 5 Stars, but from this point forward I will be more aware of what can go wrong. It is not uncommon to have a factory knot in the skein somewhere. This project had a knot in a skein and I just crocheted on through it. I did not notice that the knot was dirty and it was on the pale blue part of the yarn. The afghan was almost complete before I did notice the dirty knot. I have not tried to wash out the dirt yet, but I hope it is not grease from the spinning machine as that will probably not come out.. From now on when I run across a knot I will cut it out and retie the yarn myself. I was disappointed with Red Heart this time.
This yarn was easy to work with. The color was soft and beachy. The afghan I made was a gift and the recipient is thrilled with it.
this was a great value...and I was very happy with the subtle transition from shade to shade...beautiful colors

This yarn is beautiful variegated colors and is soft and easy to work with. I made it into a lap quilt for a friend who loves these colors and it turned out lovely. I had never used this brand of yarn before but surely will again in the future.
I have not used it yet but will add completed project when done. I love Red Heart Super Saver Yarn. My purchase was 6 Turqu (7 oz ea) and 2 Scuba (10oz). 62 ounces of yarn less than $48 and free shipping with Prime. New feature is the labels all have arrows to show which end is middle of skein!!! I have always used RHSS. The finished piece was with Flamenco (Red Heart Stripes)
any Red Heart listed on my page is fantastic. The only yarn I use for my products, scarves, shawls, afgans , baby blankets etc.
This skein is huge! Much larger than I was expecting, which was nice. The colors are beautiful although I guess I was thinking it would be a little bit of medium blue, then a little dark, and a little light and so on and so on. But it was a LOT of medium and then a LOT of dark. I made a hat which I have pictured here and I never even got to the light color. The hat turned out nice, but I was thinking it would be more of a mixture throughout. And I had to take a star away because this yarn is not soft at all. It is rough and actually feels more like string than yarn. It was easy enough to work with, but it literally felt like a piece of string with dried paint on it. Surprisingly, the hat isn't stiff and it is quite comfortable, but I would never make a blanket with this. Very pretty though and I have a lot left, so maybe I will make a bag or a couple more hats.
Very soft, and great color change delay. I rather use ombre yarn instead of the other color mixes that only get a few stitches in before changing.
