This is genius! My kids have asked for this to be their bedtime story every night for a week since we got it.
Some of the reviews mentioned a problem with the projector slipping every time they changed the slide. That hasn’t been an issue for me at all. I have an iPhone X and it fits perfectly and stays put for the entire story. I should mention though, that I normally have an Otterbox Defender case on my phone (because, toddlers, duh.) I do have to take the case off for story time because my case is huge, but that’s not an issue for me. I also didn’t have any trouble getting to picture to focus. The projector wheel on the front turns easily for focusing the lense and getting a clear picture. I was able to project on to both the ceiling and the wall, depending on where the kids were and how much wall space I had available.
We did story time with my two daughters plus my niece and nephew (all kids are 3 and 4 years old) and after the first story, the kids asked if I could put in a new reel and just show the pictures and they made up their own stories to go with the slides. After they all had a turn telling their own stories, I read the actual story. That was a fun way for them to engage their imaginations while having a turn being center of attention with a captive audience.
I have already purchased another reel to add to our collection and plan to buy more.
The only tip I think I need to leave here is to make sure your phone has enough battery power left at the end of the day to run the flashlight for the entirety of story time. The flashlight is probably the biggest battery drainer on your phone.
This Disney set turned out to be an extra big hit, since Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and Minnie are all of their favorites already. I will say, these stories in particular are a bit better suited for a younger audience, for ages 1-3. They're fairly simple and straightforward, and a little too baby-ish for my Pre-K aged boy. He still listens to them just fine, but I think they're better suited for his little brother. So keep this in mind if shopping for your kiddo or another little one for the holidays.
A great gift that we've given a handful of times now to our boys' friends for birthdays. I always highly recommend this as another new way to connect with your children.
We love love love moonlite everything. The kids got a bunch of these for Christmas and we have read with moonlite every night since. I highly recommend. My 6 and 3 year old look forward to it. A win on the usual fight to get into bed. A few of my favorite things..
-Super easy to install the app and to get the books downloaded on my phone. Easy app to navigate also.
-you have the choice to have background music on while reading the book(s) we keep it on.
-there's a focus lense on the projector to focus the images.
-There are words that are circled when going through the book, when you push on that word there is a sound that plays. Example: says cow "mooooo" says car "vrrrooomm" says star and it makes a twinkling sound.
We use the projector on my phone and it makes for a fun change to reading books before bed.
I had been going back and forth about whether or not to give this projector a try and I'm glad I did. My daughter LOVES it. It has become her new bedtime routine that we read her stories in bed at night. By the time we finish the 5th story she's sleeping.
It's far from perfect, however. There's no way to adjust the brightness and it is SUPER bright. I get that that makes the picture clearer but as she starts to fall asleep I wouldnt mind trading off a softer light for picture quality. Especially because the picture quality is mediocre as it is. Even when you focus it, it's NEVER really clear, and we project it onto the wall right next to her bed only maybe 2 feet away. The farther you try to do it the worse the picture quality gets. Also, you may have to adjust the positioning of the projector away from where the app tells you to put it.
Regardless of these, it's still worth 4 stars to me. I feel like you can only expect so much from a cheap plastic projector that goes on your phone. My daughter loves it and doesn't mind the picture quality at all. Anything that helps her go to sleep at night is perfect for us! I'll definitely be buying more stories because I'm getting tired of reading these same ones every night!
I’ve seen several people saying that when they turn the slides, it shifts the connector thing- mine doesn’t move at all. I’m wondering if some of them are defective. Mine is very sturdy once it’s clipped onto my phone. My son LOVES this. My only issue is that I wish there was a way to turn the music down (without turning your phone volume down, so you can still hear the sound effects). Also, this Mickey pack was $39.99 when I first bought it. Three weeks later, it was $7.99. I returned mine, for a refund, and bought the exact same thing for $7.99. It’s now back up to $39.99. That’s a pretty big price difference! What’s the deal with that??! My two year old loves this though. I think he loves playing “chase Mickey around the room” just as much as he likes the stories.

These have been heavily discounted this 2018 holiday season so we picked up the Mickey set, pokey little puppy set and goodnight moon for $5-10 each. I wasn’t sure if the kids would like them but they LOVED them immediately. The concept is simple - just like a view master, each round slide has 12 pictures of a story. Each story is 1 or two discs and the device connects to your phone’s flashlight to project on a wall or ceiling. When you place the story in and select it on the app, the words appear for the parent or child to read. Music plays in the background and you can touch highlighted words to play special effects (like Mickey had an IDEA- idea makes a ding ding noise). We’ve been presently surprised how great this little thing is- fully expected one or more sets to be returned. Our 5 and two year old are both reluctant readers and prefer iPhones over books, but this is the best of both worlds. Both kids now ask to watch the projector and listen to stories every night!
One negative. Since this uses the flashlight it won’t work with any devices that have a protrusion near the flash. So one of our phones has a card carrier up there and we choose not to use that phone. This is a minor issue, and it’s probably a small population that has a case like this.
I purchased moonlight for my LO as a Christmas gift and we were on the hunt for extra stories to add to our collection. We love moonlight but the books can be a little pricey. I Found this on Amazon at what seemed to be a clearance price and immediately snagged it. My kids love Mickey mouse and moonlight so this was a win-win!! I would definitely recommend and purchase again.
Our little guy loves these, but there are just a couple downfalls. It would be nice if the app would read the story, I’ve found it difficult to read over the background music while hitting the sound effect buttons and trying to change the images on time all while keeping my phone steady. I also wish there were more book options, but we really do enjoy the interactive reading experience.
I have an iPhone 8 Plus, my case is just a lightweight silicone type. The projector also has a silicone pad where it touches the phone and that hold it in place very well. I do not have to remove the case to use it. This is very much like the view masters I had as a kid, just using the phone light to actually project it on the wall or ceiling. My baby is only 6 months old, but when we go to bed he looks at the pictures on the ceiling and reading before bed is good bonding time for us. It’s easy to use and pretty low tech and the price for additional books is cheap.
It's a really cool gift my daughter absolutely loves it, but I'm having a really hard time getting it over the flashlight part of my phone and I don't know if it's because of my particular phone or what but it takes me at least 10 minutes for the projection to show up and when I do probably half of the projection is blurry. But my daughter is 3 and she can figure out which one's Minnie and which ones Goofy Etc so it's not a super big deal.
